The glass house

We got a famous proverb in the Arab Egyptian Society "Those who live in a glass house should not throw people with Stones " which means that before you criticise people you should check yourself first . A powerful wise Arabic proverb , already I thought it was Egyptian , but I found that the same proverb exists in Syria and Lebanon but in different words thanks to the difference in accents

Why I am saying this proverb here ?? well because I remember it recently after reading certain news in the United States ,to be specific certain accidents that made me wonder on the qualifications of the United States to appear in the world as the spokesperson and Number one defender of human rights and  minorities in the world .

You all know that annually the State department issues reports about the human rights and minorities in the world and some of you may know that annually the middle east especially the Arab countries has the lion share in that report as the worst . Of course it is a political game and blackmail means the US uses with the countries that either not in their side for example like Sudan and Syria or in their side but need more discipline like Egypt and KSA

I will speak about Egypt , as it is my country on an annual basis that report must say that the minorities in Egypt are suffering and here the minorities are:  the Egyptian Orthodox Christians , the Baha'is, the Nubians and Gays "Sometimes they include them and sometimes they do not , it depends on the mood of the American administration" . I will not say that every thing is perfect in Egypt but there is in overestimation and sometimes lies in that report.

Already I find it ironic that the American administration criticises other countries' internal affairs and issues concerning the minorities and human rights when in 2006 some of its citizens can't sit under the shade of a tree because it is for "White" only tree !!!

And that was the beginning of the tragedy aka as Jena six  when a group of African American students asked for the Permission of the their high school in Jena at Louisiana in the South to sit under the White Shade big tree , the administration said they could sit where ever they want , the next day they "the Students" in the morning found "White Nooses"  hanged in the tree , "White Nooses" in the south means that some blacks are going to be killed despite what the School tried to make it appear as a "prank" , things got out of hand in the city and in the school , there were clashes between whites and blacks till one a fight broke out that led to six black students being charged with attempted murder of a white student in the Jena School

You can check two sides of the story of Jena Six here and there "Wikipedia is much more to the official side of the story" . The BBC also made a special documentary about the incident you can find the summary here

I will not speak about the crime and the attack but what caused it , already this is the usually thing at the South , the Blacks are still event_omaha_courthouse_lynchingconsidered a second and even third degree citizens , Jena 6 is just the top of the ice-berg , if you go deeper and deeper you will find more than that

I find it so silly that the American administration goes and preaches us about the human rights and how to treat minorities when till now their citizens are discriminated based on colour and race. This administration and those following it before interfering in other countries' internal affairs and fix things at home , treating all people equally according to their constitution and in the same way the US administration asks sorry orders the governments to change their people's bad attitudes toward other they work seriously on changing their southern people's behaviour

already I am thinking now this is really the top of the ice-berg , the discrimination against the African Americans ,you got other huge examples for violations to the human rights and minorities rights , you got the native American community , the forgotten community ,you know I once saw an episode for Operah where she drove across the United States ,I guess last year and she was surprised to find how the native Americans live !! Of course I do not need to speak about the torture overseas and Guantanamo prison !!!!

Of course I did not include the practices of the American army through out the history because if I did I will need blogs not a single or a series of posts !!!

It is not a new thing , the United States administration always lives in a glass house and throw stones on other countries
